receive-sms.app is a free service for reading SMS sent to public, shared phone numbers. You do not create an account, and we never ask you for your own phone number, name, or payment details. This policy explains the data that is nonetheless involved in running an advertising-supported website.
What we collect
- No account data. There is no sign-up, so we hold no usernames, passwords, or email addresses unless you email us yourself.
- Standard server logs. Like any web server, ours records the request: IP address, user agent, referring page and timestamp. These are used for security, abuse prevention and debugging, and are not linked to an identity.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count pageviews and understand which pages are useful. It sets cookies and processes a truncated IP address. It tells us how the site is used, not who is using it.
- Advertising. Ads on this site are served by Google AdSense, which sets cookies to serve and measure ads (see below).
The messages shown on this site
The phone numbers listed here are public numbers published by third-party services. Any SMS sent to one of them is visible to everyone, including us and every other visitor. We do not know, and do not try to learn, who sent a message or who requested it. Never send sensitive information — banking codes, password resets for accounts you care about, personal details — to a number on this site. If a message containing your personal information appears here, email us and we will remove it.
Advertising cookies
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
- Blocking cookies in your browser also works. The site remains fully usable with cookies disabled — nothing here requires them.
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message appears before personalised ads or analytics cookies are set, as required by the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive. Your choice is stored in your browser and can be changed or withdrawn at any time using the “Privacy settings” link in the footer of every page, which reopens that message. Where consent is the legal basis, you may withdraw it at any time; where we rely on legitimate interests (security logging, abuse prevention), you may object by contacting us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export data relating to you, to object to processing, or to complain to a data protection authority. Because we hold no account data, most requests concern server logs or a message published on the site. Email contact@receive-sms.app and we will respond within 30 days.
Data retention
Server logs are kept for a short period for security and debugging, then discarded. Scraped messages are stored for as long as the number remains listed, and are removed when a number is retired or on request.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 (16 in parts of the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party links
Pages here link to other sites, including advertisers and our partner SwiftSMS. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; read their policies before sharing anything with them.
Changes
This policy may change as the site does. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
